A hot tar and chip or hot tar and gravel driveway costs less, because it is a topping surface that you can use over old surfaces. This means you can freshen up your driveway, without having to give it a complete overhaul and excavation. The finish is very presentable and consists of a layer of coloured gravel pressed into hot liquid tar and set. We roll the gravel chippings down to compact them, which creates a very strong bond with the tar. This provides a hard-wearing, low maintenance surface.
